Who We are

Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut

is a humanitarian association established in 1878 that provides services within three main sectors: education, health, and social affairs. Among its numerous activities, Makassed runs several schools, a University with three faculties, a General Hospital and primary healthcare clinics that cater to over 100,000 individuals annually across Lebanon. Founded on Islamic values of tolerance, Makassed provides its services without any discrimination based on national origin or religion.

To fulfill the needs of the Makassed community by mobilizing the skills and expertise of Makassed schools’ graduates and by joining efforts to support the Association’s pedagogical, educational, and health vocation.

In line with the mission of Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut to enhance and develop the Lebanese society, to set up an graduate positive contribution via meaningful activities, efficient local and international partnerships to promote Makassed community’s vital role towards a cooperative and inclusive society.

To bring Makassed schools’ graduate back together whether in Lebanon or abroad in addition to fostering healthy relationship and promoting their role in the development of their local community.

To shape active and distinguished Makassed alumni, each according to his/her major, into productive leaders in their societies;
To engage alumni in Lebanon and abroad in networking in terms of knowledge and expertise;
To expand Makassedeyoun scope of societal work through specific activities
To promote Makassed’s role in the community and publicize its humanitarian, philanthropic, pedagogical, and health related activities and operations;
To embed a culture of innovation within a goal-oriented and effective environment.
